Dr Jenny Ip is a medical graduate of the University of Sydney. She completed her specialist ophthalmology training at the Sydney Eye Hospital, and later fellowship training specialising in medical retina at Westmead Hospital, Sydney.

Pursuing an interest in ophthalmic research, and supported by a prestigious scholarship from the Australian National Health &; Medical Research Council for her PhD studies, she has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals for her work with the Sydney Myopia Study. Her original research findings have been presented at Australian and international ophthalmic conferences.

Dr Ip is an investigator in several ongoing clinical trials in medical retina. She is also clinical associate lecturer in the Sydney Medical Program at the University of Sydney, and is actively involved in teaching medical students and ophthalmology trainees.

Spending most of her working career providing care for the greater Sydney west area, Dr Ip has also been a visiting doctor to remote indigenous communities in the Northern Territory. She remains passionate about service to rural communities.

Her main areas of ophthalmic practice are treatment of age related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, in addition to cataracts and glaucoma.
