Dr Nathan Gunasekaran is a comprehensive general ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon who regularly manages a variety of ophthalmic conditions including glaucoma, medical retina, ocular inflammation, neuro-ophthalmology, cataract surgery, pterygium surgery and dry eye disease.

Nathan completed both a Bachelors degree in Science with First Class Honours in Pharmacology and a Doctor in Philosophy (Medicine) at the University of Sydney. He went on to complete his medical school training at the University of Notre Dame Sydney before embarking on his specialist ophthalmology training with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) through the Sydney Eye Hospital network.

Throughout his training, Nathan practiced in numerous metropolitan and rural locations throughout New South Wales, Northern Territory, and Tasmania. Following this, he went on to be the senior registrar at Westmead and Sydney Eye Hospitals where he developed a keen interest in emergency ophthalmology and ocular trauma leading him to complete a Fellowship in the area at Sydney Eye Hospital.

Nathan is a keen educator where he has been involved with teaching medical students from the University of Sydney and a Lecturer for University of Notre Dame, Sydney Australia.
