Phakic IOL

Phakic Intraocular Lens (Phakic IOL)

This procedure is of benefit to those with high-order focussing problems, where re-shaping the cornea would not be enough to correct error.

A soft lens is inserted in the chamber behind your cornea and in front of your iris. Your cornea and natural lens are left untouched.

Phakic IOLs are a more invasive treatment than laser vision correction. For this reason, implantable contact lenses are generally recommended for patients who are not good candidates for laser vision correction, either because the correction is too high or because the corneas are too thin.
